Interview With Ms. Lee

Interviewer: What made you pick Westchester?

Ms Lee: I’ve lived in Westchester County for a long time, so I was excited to hear that there was an opening at Westchester Hebrew High School. Also, I’m an alumna of Iona College, and other teachers formerly enrolled there have spoken well about WHHS.

Interviewer: If there was one thing you could change what would it be? (could be about the school or anything in general)

Ms Lee: If I could change one thing, it would be to spread more compassion. I believe that regardless of any differences in culture or traditions, people can come together to celebrate life. We can coexist without judgment and condemnation.

Interviewer: What do you like to do outside of school?

Ms Lee: Outside of school I typically enjoy leisurely activities such as reading, painting, writing and knitting. On nice days I try to visit local parks and go on nature trips with friends and family.

Interviewer: What is your dream vacation?

Ms Lee: My dream vacation is to spend a month in Asia and travel around the continent. I have many relatives who frequently visit different areas of China, so it would be nice to tag along one day.

Interviewer: What part of English is your favorite to teach and why?

Ms Lee: My favorite part of being an English teacher is hearing the different interpretations of a novel, poem, or article that students share in class. One of the best things about reading something together  is to see how our perspectives provide us a unique way to look at life. I find myself gaining new insights into themes and character motivation each year.

Interviewer: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Ms. Lee: In five years I see myself teaching English just like now. It will look different, and there will be different books and topics to discuss. Students will still be providing me with new insights and interesting stories to look into. Each year will bring something new to appreciate.

Interviewer: Lastly, do you have any hidden talents?

Ms Lee: I was on the rowing team for a year during college. My teammates and I were able to win first place in a novice race, so I consider it to be a hidden talent. I highly recommend rowing as a recreational sport; there is a lot of trust and cooperation that goes into working with a team.
