What If??

By Bella Rudoy and Danielle Azani

What if I was Danielle Azani?

Danielle Azani is one of my fellow classmates and fortunately my close friend. If I was Danielle Azani, my life would be completely different from the get go. I would be born in Tel Aviv, Israel and travel throughout my life, because my father would be a former diplomat for Israel. After being born in Israel, I would travel to Africa where my younger brother would be born and where I would learn English from a British perspective. Then I would continue on three years later to LA where I would be learning English in a more modern environment as well as from an American standpoint. Then I would move to Israel, and have to leave again in a year. Saying goodbye to all my friends, I would again move, but this time to my current location Queens, New York. I would then go to Solomon Schechter Elementary and Middle school where I would be made fun of for my height. I would be the oldest of three children in my family and have the privilege of speaking fluent Hebrew. I would then go to WestChester Hebrew high school and befriend a girl named Bella Rudoy in my classes, as well as in the scholars’ program.

What if I was Bella Rudoy?

Bella Rudoy is one of my classmates that I have grown closer with over the course of my past years in Westchester Hebrew High School. We have gotten to know each other, and we both realized how different our lives are from one another. She is a daughter of two Ukranian parents, as opposed to mine which were born in Israel, and we sometimes laugh about how much stricter her parents are than mine. In addition, she is more religious than I am and does things differently than I do. I would develop different habits than I have currently and it would eventually affect the way I live my life as an adult with a family. I would have an older brother who excelled in his studies, and much like her, I’d get irritated when people compare me to his achievements. However, I feel that I would be more responsible due to my environment, and my parents constantly encouraging me to study. I would have gone to Kinneret for 11 years and had different childhood friends from which some would come with me to high school. I would have blue eyes, which I have wanted for my entire life.
